Juvederm® XC

Juvederm XC is an injectable filler used to fill up wrinkles, fine lines, contour deformities, and volumetric deficiencies of the face, cheeks, and lips associated with ageing, developmental anomalies, and certain diseases. Juvederm XC is a simple non-surgical option for treating these problems.

Juvederm  works for:

  • Static lines on the face like wrinkles on forehead cheeks, around lips.
  • Depressed scars.
  • Nasolabial folds.
  • Any area of the face than needs to be enhanced.
  • For lip augmentation.
  • Chin Augmentation
  • Jawline strengthening and definition
  • Correction of facial asymmetry
  • Cheekbone enhancement
  • Hand rejuvenation

Juvederm XC is a gel that comes in 1 ml syringes premixed with anaesthesia. Therefore it is not painful. It is injected through ultrafine needles or cannulae. Local anaesthesia cream is used before injection to further reduce the needle’s sensation. There is no downtime as it is a *lunch time procedure and there is no healing time.

There are three types of Juvederm XC injections Juvederm Voluma XC, Juvederm Ultra Plus XC, and Juvederm Ultra XC. Juvederm Voluma XC lasts up to two years and the other two last for a year.

At what age can Juvederm injections be started?

Juvederm can be started after 18 years of age. If needed it can be used in younger teens too.

What is the difference between temporary and permanent fillers?

Temporary filler substances like hyaluronic acid are natural and /absorbed by the body in 6-24 months. They are the most common fillers used. Advantages are that they can be injected safely for very fine lines as well and side effects are very rare and reversible. Permanent fillers like polyacrylamide gel are not absorbed by the body, so the result is permanent. Hyaluronic acid temporary fillers are the safest and the best.

What is better for wrinkle treatment, Botox or Juvederm?

Each one has its unique role. Only on examination can it be determined which will work best. Sometime both are required simultaneously.
